James and Laurie Duncan

Send a Note Start a Campaign

James is a software developer and interface designer that served with a team of technologists in Chiang Mai, Thailand, who worked to assist mission agencies in Southeast and East Asia. James also served with a campus ministry whose goal is to see university students transformed by the gospel and nurtured to be reproducing disciple-makers in communities throughout Thailand and beyond. He built relationships with students through teaching English and leading weekly events to introduce students to Jesus.

Laurie served as a doula on the Chiang Mai Birthing Team ministry. The ministry provides free childbirth classes, breastfeeding classes, clothing and other birth related resources, labor coaching, and postpartum support. Many of the expecting families served by the birth team are unbelievers from all over the world, but they get to experience the love of Christ very tangibly through the birth team’s services. Laurie has also home educated their nine children over the past 18 years and counting, with their oldest three children having already graduated high school.

Before moving to Thailand, James worked for a media company for over 14 years as a graphic designer and a frontend developer. He concluded his time there leading the development team. He loves creating tools that allow people to be effective and efficient, unlocking their potential to complete tasks that they are uniquely gifted to accomplish.

After nine years in Thailand, the Duncans have relocated back to the US to be better available to their parents and adult children, and James is looking forward to offering his technical skillset to CORD’s administration team and missionaries in the field, as well as continuing to support ministries that he has been working with in Thailand. Laurie will continue to home educate their  children, and would love to be able to volunteer her doula services to expecting families in their church.
